Crofton House School is seeking an experienced elementary school educator to teach French as an additional language. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Responsibilities:

• Teach French as an additional language

• Work with young students (Grades 4 to 7)

• Establish lively, engaging classes

• Integrate French culture into lessons

• Ensure continuity of FSL learning across the Junior School in collaboration with colleagues

• Collaborate with all Junior School teachers

• Differentiate expectations for young learners

• Implement and integrate instructional technology to support learning

• Participate in collaborative personal time with a focus on the implementation of the Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling approach (TPRS)

• Create FSL curriculum and resources  in line with BC language learning curricular competencies

• Participate in the Junior School co-curricular program

Qualifications and requirements

Requirements/ Qualifications:

• Native-like French language skills (oral and written)

• Familiarity with AIM Language Learning program and TPRS an asset

• B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

• Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level

• Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail

• Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community

Employment and Application Details:

Classes begin in September 2023 following teacher orientation in late August 2023.
