Job Description

REPORTS TO: Principal of Elementary 
POSITION GROUP: Support Staff
STATUS: Ten-Month, Full-Time, Temporary

 

Job Description:

CFIS is seeking candidates for a Specialized Educational Assistant Teacher (Grades 5-6) position in our Elementary Division for the 2022-2023 school year.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the implementation of numeracy and literacy support;
  • Assist in the planning of individualized programs and instructional activities;
  • Implement programming for the needs of children in a collaborative manner;
  • Work with children individually or in small groups to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies;
  • Implement programming for the needs of children in a collaborative manner;

  • Participate in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment;
  • Support children’s ongoing development and growth, in alignment with best practices in French immersion education;
  • Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to CFIS;
  • Participate in professional workshops or courses;
  • Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees inside and outside of the school; and
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications and requirements

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (education, social work, psychology, etc.) either in progress or complete.
  • Valid Standard Level B (Childcare) First Aid certification;
  • Fluent spoken French is required.

Prior experience with children in Grades 5-6 is desirable. The successful applicant will need to provide an updated Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.

  • Awareness of best practices in French immersion education;
  • Awareness of licensing requirements in early childhood programs;

  • Exemplary communication skills;
  • Professionalism in dealing with all stakeholders;
  • Interpersonal skills that foster collegiality and blend with CFIS’s values; and

Salary:

As per the CFIS hourly pay grid.
