The Grande Prairie Public School Division is a vibrant school jurisdiction of approximately 1,100 employees and 8,500 students based in 18 school locations. We are proud to offer a variety of Pre-Kindergarten, French Immersion, Montessori, Christian Education, sports-focused and International Baccalaureate Programming to families in the Grande Prairie community.

Grande Prairie Public School Division currently employs 490 contract Teachers and approximately 160 Substitute Teachers. The mission of our School Division is to ensure every student succeeds, both inside and outside of the classroom.  Our schools have a strong sense of community, it is our belief a strong sense of community helps build the foundation on which students will experience success.

Charles Spencer High School is a grade 9-12 school that opened in September of 2014. Our location, within the Community Knowledge Campus, gives us access to world-class recreational facilities to enhance learning at our school.

Charles Spencer offers comprehensive programming from the Alberta Education curriculum, including a number of locally developed courses which were chosen to appeal to student learning needs and interests.  Our offerings also include French Immersion programming, as well as The Academy, which offers passion-based programming in Hockey, Soccer, Dance and Golf. Charles Spencer also offers Knowledge and Employability (K&E) programming and Innovative Support Classrooms (ISC).  Off-campus opportunities are available to our students through Work Experience, Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAP) and Dual Credit opportunities which provide students the ability to earn both high school and post-secondary credits at the same time. 

Job Description

This assignment is a 1.0 FTE Probationary position teaching French Immersion Science and Math for the 2022-2023 school year.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligible to apply)
  • Bachelor Degree in Education
  • Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
  • Fluent in French and English (both oral and written). Candidates who submit DELF results of examinations taken within the last 3 years at a C1 or C2 level, will be exempt from completing language examinations. All other candidates will be asked to complete an oral and written assessment to demonstrate proficiency levels.
