Selkirk Elementary School is a dual track English/French elementary school with a student population of approximately 340. Key to Selkirk Elementary School’s philosophy is the incorporation of social emotional learning, developmentally responsive practice, and balanced literacy and numeracy programming. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
· Bachelor of Education or equivalent with specialization in elementary and/or middle school education and a specialization in physical and health education;
· Recent teaching experience and/or pre-service practicum teaching experience in an elementary and/or middle school, French Immersion Physical and Health Education;
· Recent experience implementing differentiated instruction in daily practice;
· Recent experience with land/place-based education and/or inquiry based;
· Experience integrating outdoor education activities into the curriculum;
· Experience with restorative behavioral practices and self-regulation strategies in adapting curriculum to meet a range of learning abilities and styles including students with physical disabilities;
· Experience accommodating and implementing Student Support Plans, Individual Education Plans, and Behavioural Support Plans within the Physical and Health Education program;
· Fluent in both French and English.

· Excellent classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
· Knowledge and understanding of current evaluation and assessment practices;

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with students, parents, administration, other staff members and consultants;
· Ability to assume a leadership role in promotion of lifelong fitness, healthy lifestyles, and the joy of participating in individual and team sports;
· Willingness and ability to support school goals and initiatives and to contribute to the total school program; and
· Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training is an asset.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Current First Aid certification with CPR;
· Completed certification of “Respect in Sport for Coaches and Activity Leaders” would be an asset; and
· NCCP Level 1 Certification would be an asset;
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
· French proficiency level: C1 desired;
· Clearly outline in both your cover letter and resume how your specific qualifications and experience align with the stated criteria;
