Job Description

REPORTS TO: Principal of  Elementary
POSITION GROUP: Faculty
STATUS: 
Full-Time, Probationary

 

Job Description:
As part of our commitment to implementing our strategic plan, CFIS is recruiting an assistant principal for the elementary division, whose focus will be on the whole student. The successful candidate will have some teaching duties in addition to the assistant principal responsibilities.  The responsibilities of this position cover the following areas:

  • Contribute to the overall health, success, and sustainability of the School;
  • Role model the CFIS values and instill leadership behaviours and expectations;
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in all areas of responsibility;
  • Establish, maintain and nurture effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff;
  • Strive to continually improve leadership and management abilities;
  • Assist the Principal to manage the day-to-day organization and operation of CFIS’s Elementary Division;
  • Assist the Principal in working with teachers to maintain effective classroom procedures and practices through coaching, feedback and professional development;
  • Collaborate with Principal in teacher observations;
  • Lead in the development of the supervision schedule for students/teachers;
  • Build student timetables and schedules for teachers;
  • Develop and implement whole school events in collaboration with the early childhood and secondary divisions;
  • Collaborate in the coordination of co-curricular programs;
  • Address disciplinary and performance issues proactively;
  • Assist in providing supervision and oversight for substitute teachers;
  • Assume the responsibility of the operation of the Division when the Principal is not on campus;
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with members of the Pedagogical Leadership Team and in the development of CFIS’s Elementary School program;
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Head, Academics;
  • Support the Head of School in the advancement of the School’s mission;
  • Undertake other related and/or delegated duties.

Qualifications and requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent;
  • One or more of the following: course work in leadership, participation in CAIS modules,  enrolment or completion of  a Master’s degree program;
  • Alberta Teaching Certification;
  • Valid CPR & First Aid certificate or willing to obtain;
  • Fluently bilingual (French and English); and
  • Most recent evaluation submitted with the resume.

 

Prior experience in an assistant principal role is desirable. The successful candidate will need to provide an updated Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (two shots approved by Health Canada) prior to commencing work.

Salary:

As per the CFIS teaching salary grid.
