USI Cross Country performs well ahead of OVC

UNION CITY, TN. (WFIE) – Sophomore Zoe Seward raced to second place among 70 competitors to lead the University of Southern Indiana women’s cross country team to first place at the seven-team University of Tennessee OVC Martin Preview on Saturday morning.

Seward completed the six-kilometer course in 21 minutes, 44.7 seconds, as the Screaming Eagles placed four runners in the top six and six in the top 20.

Senior Audrey Comastri and sophomore Ellie Hall They finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to help the Eagles. Comastri crossed the finish line in 21:57.6, while Hall finished in 22:03.1.

Freshman Hadessah Austin fell outside the top five with a sixth-place time of 22:06.7, while the senior Katie Winkler rounded out the Eagles’ top five with a 17th-place finish.

Emily Rempe, sophomore, and senior Emma Thompson They finished 20th and 25th to complete USI’s top scorers.

As a team, USI finished with 34 points, 15 ahead of second-place Tennessee Tech University. Nova Ojutkangas of Southeast Missouri State University won the race with a time of 21:17.5.

The Eagles will return to action on September 27 when they travel to Columbia, Missouri, to compete in the University of Missouri Gans Creek Classic.

–TERRY LEADS EAGLE MEN IN 8KM RACE–

University of Southern Indiana Men’s Senior Cross Country Team Brady Terry He edged out Southeast Missouri State University’s Nick Cimmarusti down the stretch to take first place among 67 competitors at the University of Tennessee Martin’s OVC Preview on Saturday morning.

Terry completed the eight-kilometre course in 24 minutes and 21.8 seconds, less than two seconds ahead of Cimmarusti, for his second career victory on the turf and first since winning the Stegemoller Classic on 10 September 2021.

As a team, the Screaming Eagles finished second out of six teams with 43 points, just two behind first-place SEMO.

Second year students Jackson Collman and Alex Nolan They finished ninth and 10th, respectively, to help the Eagles. Collman finished in 25:09.0, while Nolan recorded an 8km time of 25:10.3.

USI placed eight riders in the top 20, with junior Isaac Stanford and first year student Layden Wagon took 13th and 14th place, respectively, to round out the USI top five. Junior Eli Mojonnier (16th) and first year Zach Wells (19th) wrapped up the Eagles’ scorers, while the sophomore Cole Hess It was the 20th
