Covington opens 2024 season ranked No. 1 in West Tennessee football rankings – Gibson County News

The 2024 high school football season will soon begin across the state of Tennessee. Here in West Tennessee are some of the best teams in the state and many of them will be competing to make a deep run in the state playoffs that begin in November.

These are the top 15 teams in West Tennessee heading into the 2024 season:

1. Covington (10-3) – The Chargers reached the Class 3A state quarterfinals.

2. Haywood (11-3) – The Tomcats reached the Class 4A state semifinals.

3. McKenzie (13-2) – The Rebels finished second in the Class 1A state championship game.

4. Henry County (11-2) – The Patriots reached the Class 5A quarterfinals.

5. Dyersburg (13-1) – The Trojans reached the Class 3A semifinals.

6. Huntingdon (11-2) – The Mustangs reached the Class 2A quarterfinals.

7. Milan (9-3) – The Bulldogs reached the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.

8. Hardin County (11-1) – The Tigers reached the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

9. Munford (8-3) – The Cougars reached the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

10. Jackson Christian (10-2) – The Eagles reached the quarterfinals of Division II-A.

11. Westview (7-5) – The Chargers reached the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.

12. Union City (9-4) – The Golden Tornadoes reached the Class 1A quarterfinals.
