Tennessee Titans defensive tackle to miss rest of season after torn biceps

The Tennessee Titans’ injury woes continue as it was announced that backup defensive tackle Marlon Davidson will likely be out for the entire upcoming season due to a torn biceps.

Last week against the San Francisco 49ers, Davidson totaled 3 tackles in the game.

Davidson was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, where he would spend two seasons and accumulate 21 total tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery, but also one interception.

After not necessarily living up to the expectations of a second-round pick, the Falcons released him. He signed with the 49ers’ practice squad before being released, then worked his way onto Tennessee’s practice squad. He made the roster and signed a one-year deal.

Last season, with the Titans, he played in five games, where he recorded 10 total tackles and one sack. The team brought him back on May 6 and he has performed well during training camp.

Davidson is still a young player having recently turned 26, and a chance to develop under two-time Pro-Bowl and second-team All-Pro defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons is certainly something the Titans are looking forward to.

While Davidson has had unimpressive stats so far in his career and is not a starter for the Titans, depth is always a good thing, especially since edge Arden Key will miss the first six games of the season due to suspension.

The Titans could certainly use a player like former defensive lineman Teair Tart, who was recently released by the Miami Dolphins and then signed by the Los Angeles Chargers.
