Former Georgia Tech forward Tyzhaun Claude has transferred to North Carolina, his agents told On3’s Joe Tipton.

Claude averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 32 games, mostly coming off the bench, last season for the Yellow Jackets.

This is the third transfer for the 6-foot-8 senior. He began his career with two seasons at Morehead State, then played at Western Carolina for one season before joining Georgia Tech.

He is now scheduled to join Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels for his final year of NCAA eligibility.

Claude had a breakout season for Western Carolina in 2021-22, when he averaged 15.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

The forward is heading into his sixth collegiate season after spending three years at Morehead State. But after missing time early in his career due to injury, the forward received a waiver from the NCAA to be able to play during the 2024-25 season.

Claude averaged 17.4 minutes per game as a reserve for the Yellow Jackets last season.

He shot 49.5 percent from the field with minimal attempts from beyond the arc, going 1-of-7 from three-point range during his senior season.

Claude was the most effective in rebounding, ranking second on the team with 2.4 offensive rebounds per game.

Having made 102 collegiate appearances and 51 starts, Claude will now bring a veteran presence and offensive rebounding skills to the Tar Heels’ roster.

The addition comes at a good time for UNC’s frontcourt, which is undergoing a transformation this offseason following the departure of Armando Bacot to the Utah Jazz.

For now, it appears UNC’s frontcourt will be led by Belmont transfer Cade Tyson and two returning reserves in Jae’Lyn Withers and Jalen Washington.

Claude is a relatively small forward, which will be a hindrance in his fight for minutes in Chapel Hill. But if he can lean on his offensive rebounding, he could end up being a key piece for a Tar Heels team in pursuit of a national championship.
