Cowboys News: Team value tops $10 billion, Micah promises extension to Lamb

The Cowboys conversation continues after Sunday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. How did the performance impact predictions about who will make the 53-man roster and 16-man practice squad? There was a significant injury in the game and, along with the performance of the two rookies on the offensive line, it’s prompting some changes.

Meanwhile, there hasn’t been any significant progress in negotiations between the team and CeeDee Lamb yet, but one superstar says he’s not worried Lamb will be back. It’s a big statement, especially on the day the updated franchise value is released and once again Jerry Jones’ wallet is setting records in the sports world. Cheers to Oxnard’s windy conditions as more teams follow Jerry Jones’ lead.

For the first time in California history, five teams (the Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints) held training camp within a 102-mile span from Ventura to Orange County, and of the eight NFL teams that opted to travel far from their home practice facilities, four landed here.

“Why have we been here so many years?” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones asked rhetorically as a thick sea layer blew in from the Pacific Ocean to cover the team’s practice fields in Oxnard. “It’s the ideal climate to prepare a team.”

Pick No. 29: Dallas Cowboys: T Tyler Guyton

Overall preseason rating: 80.7 (position: 1/34)
Main Opponent: Zach VanValkenburg

Preseason Week 1 Snapshots: 21
Preseason Week 1 Grade: 80.7

Guyton played 21 snaps at left tackle, a position he rarely played in college, and performed well in his Cowboys debut. He won all 13 of his pass-blocking reps, resulting in an excellent 83.8 pass-blocking grade. He also made a couple of nice blocks from behind in Dallas’ zone-running game. Admittedly, Guyton’s production didn’t come against the best competition. Regardless, he finishes the first week of the preseason as the highest-graded rookie tackle in the NFL.
