Prospect: Savio Hiter

Projected position: Corridor

Vital parts: 5-11.5 and 190 pounds

School: Wild Berry Forest (Mineral, Virginia)

Frame: While Hiter may not look like an SEC running back yet, he’s not too far off from being one. Keep in mind that he’s a junior who has two years of development left in the high school gym before entering the college ranks. He’s developed a well-proportioned body frame that has sustained him through his first two years of high school football. Hiter has a strong lower half that allows him to power through arm tackles and bounce over defenders who lunge from their spots.

Athletics: A glider who moves quickly through the open field and initiates tackling opportunities before defenders are ready. He has the quickness to put his foot on the ground and quickly explode inside to punish defenders coming in with uneven leverage. Hiter’s top speed is noticeably more explosive than his current level of competition as he outpaces defenders in space frequently.

Instincts: In most cases, Hiter finds the right path for him, working his progressions and working his way through the available gap. He anticipates the defenders’ influence and timing in the gap and often causes the first man to miss. Hiter lengthened many plays by making quick decisions between the tackles and creating an explosive opportunity for himself.

Polish: Hiter still has two full seasons of high school left to continue honing his body and ensure he can compete three times before entering college. He has plenty of traits that translate to winning football in Tennessee’s offense, a downhill running style that highlights running backs who can create for themselves in the slot.

In summary: He’s ranked as the No. 29 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings for a reason: Hiter’s work in his freshman years projects him to become an impact player at the college level. He has the build of many exciting SEC running backs before him and will be courted by America’s best for the remainder of his recruitment.
