Heat advisories issued for parts of central Florida. Here’s when the pleasant temperatures arrive

ORLANDO, Florida. – Scorching summer days will continue through Thursday before a rare cold front ushers in pleasant weather for the weekend.

Wednesday and Thursday:

A slow-moving cold front over northern Florida will gradually sink into central Florida over the next two days. A warm, moist air mass remains ahead of the boundary.

The added instability of the front will keep rain chances at 50-60% through Thursday, with some strong storms developing. The main hazards will be gusty winds, lightning and locally heavy rain.

High temperatures are forecast to be above average and reach into the 90s. Combined with high humidity, high heat indices will exceed 108 degrees. Because of this, a heat advisory has been issued for Central Florida through Wednesday night.

Friday-Weekend:

Finally, the heat will ease a bit as the cold front leaves central Florida on Friday. This boundary will bring in drier air, making conditions much more pleasant.

While high temperatures will remain near normal in the mid-90s, the risk for heat remains low without rain.

Tropical zone:

The same front that brings some relief to Central Florida residents will be the vital weather feature that keeps Ernesto away from the East Coast.

As Ernesto heads north toward Bermuda, the intensity forecast shows it will strengthen into a major hurricane (Category 3) over the weekend.

While models agree that Ernesto will remain more than 800 miles off the coast of Florida, it will impact beach and boating conditions locally. Forecasts call for long-term swells, rough seas, strong waves, and a high risk of rip currents.
