Jacksonville Jaguars running back Lorenzo Lingard (35) turns a corner during the third day of an NFL football training camp practice Friday, July 26, 2024 at EverBank Stadium’s Miller Electric Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Giants signed former Jaguars undrafted rookie running back Lorenzo Lingard on Monday, one of five roster moves New York announced.

Jacksonville waived Lingard on Aug. 3, alongside tight end Josh Pederson, who had an injury designation and reverted to the Jaguars’ injured reserve.

The Jaguars signed running back Gary Brightwell and tight end Chris Myarick to fill Lingard and Pederson’s vacated roster spots.

Lingard signed with Jacksonville following the 2024 NFL draft, following one season with Akron to finish his college career. I posted 143 rushing attempts for 641 yards and four touchdowns, and 38 receptions for 368 yards and two touchdowns as a super senior with the Zips.

Lingard originally enrolled at Miami in the class of 2018, but a major knee injury during his freshman season ultimately led to his transfer to Florida after two seasons with the Hurricanes. Following three years as a backup with the Gators, he joined the Zips in 2023.

Over Lingard’s five seasons before transferring to Akron, he rushed 43 times for 286 yards and three touchdowns and caught three passes for 31 yards.

Lingard was one of two rookie running backs Jacksonville signed after April’s NFL draft, joined by Villanova’s Jalen Jackson in the class.

Jackson remains with the Jaguars and rushed five times for 29 yards against Kansas City in Jacksonville’s Saturday preseason opener.
