Expect to start seeing tarantulas if you live in Colorado

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Thousands of tarantulas are about to venture out of their homes in search of love.

The mating season of the brown tarantula begins in August and lasts until October. The spiders are most commonly found in Colorado, Kansas, and New Mexico.

Experts recommend leaving spiders alone if you see them around. They are not likely to enter your home, as they are larger than a normal house spider.

Bites from these spiders may hurt, but they won’t kill you. American tarantulas are venomous, but bites are rare and usually don’t require medical attention.
