Man found dead in Washington State Prison, investigation underway – 41NBC News

Devonte Williams was found dead on August 9.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An inmate was found dead at the Washington State Prison on Friday, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Devonte Williams was found dead on August 9.

Williams body was turned over to the County Coroner and will be transported to the GBI crime lab to determine the official cause of death.

The death is being investigated by the GDC’s Office of Professional Standards.

Williams was serving a 20-year-sentence for aggravated assault out of Cobb County, with a maximum release date of May 2041.
