RCSCW welcomes its new CEO

Sun City West Recreation Centers has hired Stephen Erno as its new general manager, effective Tuesday, September 3.

The RCSCW Board of Directors hired Erno after a nationwide search. Erno comes to the association from Wickenburg, where he was the city manager. There he was responsible for managing a $76 million budget that covered a wide variety of public services, including police, fire, development services, finance, parks and recreation, library and additional municipal services. He led the City Council through work sessions to develop and adopt a multi-year strategic plan, something that is high on the RCSCW Board of Directors’ list of priorities for the coming year.

From 2016 to 2022, Erno served as the City of Chandler’s Neighborhood Services Manager. In that role, she oversaw a multi-level staff of 17 employees and was responsible for developing and managing the division’s $1.9 million budget. She formulated long-range plans, master plans, and other strategic documents used in city decision-making.

While in Chandler, Erno took on additional interim duties, including serving as interim director of the Neighborhood Resources Department and the Community Services Department.

From 2011 to 2016, he was the Code Enforcement Manager for the City of Avondale.

Erno holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Public Administration from the University of Ottawa. He is a member of the International City and County Management Association; the Arizona City and County Management Association; Association, Arizona Parks and Recreation Association; and the International Honor Society of Public Affairs and Administration, among other organizations.

Interim general manager Ken Olson, who was hired in April to fill the role temporarily while a permanent general manager is sought, will serve in his role through Aug. 16.
