The Residence at Village Greens

The Residence at Village Greens has expanded its leadership team with the addition of three new members with local ties as the senior living community prepares for its grand opening this summer.

Berks County residents Jenn Fick, Tina Boyer and Dan Walter will play key roles in shaping the new community, which is scheduled to open this summer in Sinking Spring.

Fick, who was born and raised in Berks County, will serve as director of independent living operations. She attended nursing school and eventually began working in senior living facilities in 1988. With her husband, Fick owned and operated a local hearing aid business from 1996 until she sold it in April.

Boyer has been named director of administrative services for The Residence at Village Greens. She brings more than 16 years of senior care experience and serves as business office manager at another local senior living community.

Boyer has lived in Berks County her entire life and said she is looking forward to being part of the new, modern senior living community at Village Greens.

Walter has been named the safety and maintenance engineer for the new community. He has lived in Berks County since 1978 and moved to Douglassville 10 years ago. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, he retired from teaching. After a brief stint at UPS, Walter joined Exton Senior Living, operated by IntegraCare, as a safety and maintenance engineer. After spending more than a year in Exton, Walter joined the team at IntegraCare’s new community in Sinking Spring last month.

Kristine (Kris) Bashore has joined Herbein + Co. Inc. as Vice President and Practice Leader on Herbein’s HR Consulting team.

In this role, Bashore will manage the team’s HR strategy and operations group and focus on strategic planning and project management initiatives focused on human resources, organizational and leadership development, and marketing. With more than 30 years of extensive HR leadership experience, she is a valuable addition to the company.

Prior to joining Herbein, Bashore worked for more than 23 years at Caron Treatment Centers, a leading, internationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to addiction medicine and behavioral health care treatment, research, prevention, and education. In her most recent role as Caron’s Chief Operating Officer, she led daily operations and oversaw human resources, training, professional development, quality, compliance, risk management, admissions, facilities, regional services, marketing, and business development.

Earlier in her career, Bashore held senior human resources management positions at a pharmaceutical company and a regional financial institution.

Bashore holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from East Stroudsburg University and is a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Senior Certified Professional. She is also an active member of SHRM.

Saxton and stump

Melissa Jabour has joined the law firm of Saxton & Stump as a senior attorney in the business and healthcare litigation groups. In her 10-year career, she has worked with clients in medical malpractice, medical device and product liability cases at a top-tier plaintiff-oriented law firm. She will now represent healthcare providers, medical professionals and other healthcare entities, in addition to working with our growing business litigation team. She will be based in the firm’s Lancaster office.

She was previously a partner at a Lancaster-based firm where she developed expertise in case strategy and analysis, briefing drafting, witness preparation, assisting in arbitrations and mediations and handling negotiations.

Jabour serves on the board of directors of Lancaster Dollars for Higher Learning, an organization that provides interest-free loans to Lancaster County students to support their post-secondary goals. She is also vice chair of the Lancaster Bar Association’s Ethics and Professionalism Section.

Jabour is a magna cum laude graduate of Temple University’s Beasley School of Law and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Optimal dispute resolution

Steven D. Costello, a healthcare litigator with nearly 40 years of experience, has joined Optimal Dispute Resolutions as a mediator and arbitrator. Optimal helps individuals and businesses resolve their disputes outside of court by offering alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services, including mediation, arbitration, and consulting.

Costello is an active advocate of litigation prevention and mitigation strategies. He has decades of experience in the healthcare field and has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies and major hospitals, long-term care facilities, and insurance companies. He is an active member of local and national associations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, the Health Law Committee, and the Interdisciplinary Committee on Medical and Health-Related Issues. He also served on the Defense Research Institute’s Long-Term Care/ALF Committee. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Defense Academy and a Master of the American Bar Association.

Costello earned his law degree from the State University of New Jersey, Rutgers School of Law. His peers have selected him for inclusion on the Best Lawyers in America list since 2017. Best Lawyers named him “Lawyer of the Year, Medical Malpractice Law – Defendants” for both the 2022 and 2024 lists in the Philadelphia region. He has also been designated a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer as published in Philadelphia Magazine and named a Lehigh Valley Lawyer of Choice.
