Basketball star Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, and his mother, Sonya Curry, found themselves in a tense situation with French police on Sunday, August 13, just after the U.S. men’s basketball team, including Curry, won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A video posted by the Solution to Hollywood revealed the intense moment, showing Ayesha, 35, wiping away tears as Sonya, 58, engaged in a heated exchange with officers who were reportedly preventing the family from returning to their vehicle.

“They won’t let us go back to where we came from,” Curry’s mother is heard saying. “They won’t let the driver come here and they won’t let us go back there.”

The traffic jam blocking their escape route was, according to Page sixbecause French President Emmanuel Macron left the area at the same time.

In the video, the shock increased when baby Caius was hit in the head by a bystander at the scene, prompting an immediate emotional response from Ayesha, her family and friends, including Curry’s Golden State Warriors teammate and NBA superstar Draymond Green, who can be heard yelling, “So even after hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing you can do to get him out of here?”

After the brief but intense altercation, an unidentified man who came up to translate for police can be heard apologizing on behalf of an officer and saying, “I’m sorry about the baby.”
