Democrats launch first paid ad campaign for Harris-Walz ticket in Georgia and six other battleground states – WABE

With an established presidential ticket campaigning across the country and a huge amount of money to spend, the Democratic Party is targeting seven key battleground states with paid advertising for Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

The Democratic National Committee announced the Harris-Walz ad campaign on Monday, which includes more than 70 billboards in key battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It is the ticket’s first paid ad campaign since Walz joined the campaign, and the first of many to be run in areas that will determine the outcome of the presidential election in November.

According to the DNC, the billboards will be in several key urban areas in the battleground states, including Atlanta, Detroit, Charlotte and Philadelphia. Many of them are installed along major highways and interstates, including Interstate 95 and Interstate 10.

There is also a billboard, in both English and Spanish, on the Las Vegas Strip, according to the DNC.

“The DNC is flooding the battlefields with a clear message: Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz are fighting for working people, and Donald Trump and JD Vance are only looking out for their own interests,” DNC spokesman Abhi Rahman said in a statement.

The Harris-Walz campaign has significant fundraising numbers: it raised $310 million in July and has $377 million on hand in August. By comparison, the Trump campaign raised more than $138 million last month and has $327 million to spend.

The ad campaign comes after Harris and Walz wrapped up their swing state tour last week, drawing enthusiastic crowds in places like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Arizona. Their stop in North Carolina was postponed due to bad weather brought on by Tropical Storm Debby.

Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, followed Democrats closely throughout the week by holding press conferences in many of the same cities Harris and Walz visited. Meanwhile, Trump held a rally last week in Montana.

The Trump campaign also launched its own ad campaign in late July, pushing television spots that focus on Harris’ record on immigration and calling her a “border czar.”
