Athletes across the Coastal Bend have their sights set on the postseason with lofty goals.

Maggie Croft, last year’s All-South Texas MVP and an SMU commit, returns to lead Flour Bluff in what the Hornets hope will be another strong season. She is one of several players who received postseason honors last season and will be back for another go-round this season.

Last season, three teams participated in the regional tournaments: Flour Bluff in Class 5A, Calallen in Class 4A and Banquet in Class 3A. This year, schools will be divided into Division I and Division II playoff brackets for the first time (similar to the model used in Class 6A for football) and the playoff bracket will be one round shorter to reach a state championship.
