Holyoke Veterans Court creates fund to support veterans seeking a fresh start

HOLYOKE – Nearly a decade ago, the state opened a Veterans Court in Western Massachusetts. Now, the family of one of its founders plans to add a feature that will help those who graduate move forward in life.

Archer B. Battista’s widow and son have set up a foundation in his name to award small monetary prizes (between $1,000 and $3,000) to help veterans graduate from court and move on to better lives.
