Public meetings scheduled to discuss safe and secure elections

The North Carolina Network for Fair, Safe and Secure Elections is hosting a series of public meetings across the state to address public concerns about voting in North Carolina and strengthen civil discourse. Upcoming events are scheduled in area communities.

The Trusted Elections Tour, sponsored by the North Carolina Network for Fair, Safe and Secure Elections, the League of Women Voters of North Carolina, and Veterans for All Voters, aims to provide information about the electoral process, build trust in our voting system, and generate support for peaceful political engagement.

Cybersecurity experts, election officials, and election law attorneys from both parties will participate in the 90-minute town hall meetings. They will address public concerns about electronic voting machines and hacking, explain the secure process for collecting and counting votes, and provide advice on how to address challenges, recounts, and allegations of fraud through the proper legal channels.

Events are scheduled in Boone at Appalachian State University’s John E. Thomas Hall on Wednesday, August 21; in Morganton at Western Piedmont Community College on Thursday, August 22; and in Statesville on Thursday, August 29, at the Statesville Civic Center. All events will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
