UMass Lowell men’s basketball program adds seven players, including three transfers

LOWELL — UMass Lowell men’s basketball head coach Pat Duquette has added seven newcomers to his roster ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

While this is the largest incoming class to join the River Hawks in a single season since 2014-15, the group brings a solid combination of experience and skill to the lineup.

The team welcomes four true freshmen: Kris Johnson, Armani Perkins, Martin Somerville and Isaiah Walter.

The new players also include three transfers: senior Quincy Clark and fifth-year seniors Mekhi Gray and Caleb Murphy.

“We are excited to welcome a new generation of talented, deep players, combining three transfer players with four freshmen,” Duquette said. “They will bring depth and versatility to our defensive line and will complement our core of returning players very well.”

The River Hawks are coming off two straight seasons in which they advanced to the America East championship game. Expectations are high for Duquette and his program. UML went 22-10 last season, including a win at Georgia Tech and a two-point loss at Arizona State.
