Lake Mary Little League team nears Williamsport, one step closer to World Series

LAKE MARY, Florida. – After family and fans bid farewell to the Lake Mary All-Stars on Thursday, the players are one step closer to traveling to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the Little League World Series.

The team defeated Tennessee on Tuesday to win the Southeast Region, giving them a chance to make the World Series this year.

“I’m incredibly proud of these guys and the work they’ve put in and the dedication they’ve had,” head coach Jonathan Anderson said before his departure.

The team shared photos with News 6 after landing and heading to their destination in Williamsport Thursday night.

The Lake Mary All-Stars are the fourth team from Central Florida to make it to the Little League World Series. No Florida team has ever won the tournament.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help send players’ parents to the World Series. You can find it on the GoFundMe website.
