The horror stories of 13 serial killers who roamed Texas

Serial killers, whether in Texas or other states, are evil. Yet their actions fascinate us. Why do they feel the need to carry out their murders? Why are they so brutal? How do they determine their victims? Throughout history, there have been many serial killers who started their murder spree or committed an act in Texas. Below are 13 stories of serial killers who brought their murder spree to the state of Texas.

The evil of these people

Real-life serial killers are, quite simply, evil. Some of that evil may stem from childhood abuse, as is the case with a pair of Texas serial killers. Others are simply evil to the core, and there is nothing that could have been done to drive that evil out.

All of these killers had different methods of taking their victims’ lives. Some were quick and didn’t cause much suffering, while others were long and tortuous. Most of these killers were caught, but a couple of them remained unsolved, such as in Austin and Texarkana.

Annihilating Maid

In the 1880s, maids were being murdered in gruesome ways late at night. This continued for about a year with no clues as to who was doing it. Austinites at the time lived in fear. In total, seven women and one man were killed, while six women and two men were seriously injured by the so-called Maid-killer. No one was ever caught for these murders. Some believe that whoever this person was traveled to England and became Jack the Ripper, as that murder spree began about three years after these attacks and the killer used similar murder methods.

Phantom Killer

In 1946, just after World War II, there were four unsolved murders in Texarkana, on both the Texas and Arkansas sides. These attacks occurred between February and May of that year and mostly involved young couples who were stopped on a “lovers’ path.” One couple who survived one attack described the man as wearing a pillowcase over his head with holes cut out for his eyes. The perpetrator was never caught. The horror movie genre is believed to have started with The town that feared the sunset in 1976, which used these murders as the basis of the film’s plot.
