Rain improves crop conditions in Tennessee

Recent rains have significantly improved Tennessee crops.

The USDA says corn condition improved to 57 percent good to excellent, with 96 percent of the crop at silk stage, 72 percent at dough stage and 29 percent with dent kernels.

Cotton is 97 percent square leaf, 74 percent boll and the crop is rated good to excellent at 61 percent.

Soybeans are 84 percent flowering, 66 percent pod forming and have been improved to 64 percent with a good to excellent rating.

Tobacco plants are 52 percent covered and 60 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Pastures improved to 36 percent from good to excellent.
