Flight cancellations: More than 1,600 flights cancelled as Tropical Storm Debby makes landfall in the United States

TAMPA, Fla. — More than 1,600 flights were canceled within, to or from the United States on Monday, and that number is expected to continue to rise.

American Airlines is feeling the most impact from its hubs in Miami and Charlotte, North Carolina, where Tropical Storm Debby is passing through.

American Airlines said it has canceled operations at airports in Gainesville, Sarasota and Tallahassee through noon Monday.

Southwest, Delta, Spirit, Endeavor Air, JetBlue and United have canceled at least 100 flights.

Sunday was one of the worst days for air travel this year, with more than 2,400 cancellations.
