Debby brings flooding concerns to South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – Debby will continue to slowly move northward bringing torrential rain, gusty winds, and tornado danger to South Carolina.

Debby is likely to stall near the South Carolina coast, producing rounds of heavy rain and gusty winds on Wednesday and Thursday. In fact, it could strengthen slightly as it moves eastward, a little out to sea.

Friday looks like it will be another rainy day for us as the remaining moisture from Debby slowly moves into North Carolina. By this weekend, the remnants of Debby will be gone, giving us some relief.

Overall, most of South Carolina will receive between 5 and 12 inches of rain from Debby. The greatest impacts from Debby will be in areas closer to the coast. Between 15 and 20 inches of rain cannot be ruled out in parts of the Low Country and Pee Dee.
