Local teens shine on Steph Curry’s underrated golf tour

Local teen golfers Catherine Andino and Morgan Rodriguez are making a name for themselves on Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour.

Andino, a 14-year-old Boca Raton native, recently won the women’s division at the tour stop in South Bend, Indiana, and finished the round at 1-under par. Andino said that while she is happy with the win, she is already thinking about next week’s tournament in San Antonio and then competing for the Curry Cup in New Jersey.

“The tour has been great, we played some amazing courses,” Andino said. “I’m really happy to have this opportunity and meet some great people, so overall it’s a great experience.”

Rodriguez, 16, of Delray Beach, was coming off a win at the PGA Junior Works when she signed on the Underrated Tour, which she says has opened up a new world of opportunities for her in the sport.

“The tour itself is full of diversity, incredible competition, creating a fun and engaging environment which in turn has given me an incredible golf family that I will be forever grateful for,” says Rodriguez.

Founded by four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP Steph Curry, the Underrated Tour offers “underrated” and underrepresented groups the opportunity to shine in golf while opening a network of mentors and sponsors. In its third year, the tour has helped 20 student athletes obtain golf scholarships.
