Why Kyle Rittenhouse wants Ron Paul to be president and not Trump, the man who pardoned him

WASHINGTON, DC: Kyle Rittenhouse, outreach director for Texas Gun Rights, announced his decision not to vote for presidential candidate Donald Trump.

In August 2020, Illinois resident Kyle Rittenhouse crossed state lines and shot two people dead in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Contrary to some reports, he was pardoned by then-President Trump.

He shared a video from his official account on X (formerly known as Twitter) citing Trump’s bad advisors and his weakened stance on the Second Amendment.

Kyle Rittenhouse reveals who he will vote for

Kyle Rittenhouse announced that he will be “writing the Ron Paul for President of the United States blog” in a video posted to his X account, which was formerly Twitter. The election is scheduled for November and Paul will not be running in the upcoming election.

In a video, he said: “I’m Kyle Rittenhouse, director of gun rights outreach in Texas. A lot of people are upset because I said I’m going to write about Ron Paul for president of the United States and that’s true.”

He added: “I’m going to put Ron Paul in there. Unfortunately, Donald Trump had bad advisors who made him bad on the Second Amendment. And that’s the problem. If you can’t be completely uncompromising on the Second Amendment, I’m not going to vote for you and I’m going to put someone else in there.”

“We need Second Amendment defenders, otherwise our rights will be eroded day by day. I stand by my decision and I have no retraction,” Rittenhouse concluded.

“You must stay true to your principles,” she captioned the clip.

Donald Trump once called Kyle Rittenhouse “a nice young man”

In 2021, Kyle Rittenhouse met with Donald Trump at the Mar-a-Lago club. After their meeting, Trump referred to Rittenhouse as a “nice young man.”

In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Trump reportedly said Rittenhouse was “a really nice young man” and that he had “got to know him a little bit,” according to NBC.

“I knew Kyle a little bit. He called me,” Trump said, adding that Rittenhouse was a fan. “He wanted to know if I could come say hi because he was a fan.”

He went on to say, “He was a fan, unlike the other guy.”

The former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, also shared the photo on Twitter, highlighting it with the acronym ‘GOATs’, which stands for ‘Greatest Of All Time’.

Internet ridicules Kyle Rittenhouse

As soon as Rittenhouse’s statement about Trump went viral on social media, fans of the former president came out to criticize the Texas Gun Rights outreach director.

One Trump supporter defended him, saying: “You’re wrong, Kyle. President Trump has always fought to protect our Second Amendment rights. Do what you want. All I ask is that you never ask for my endorsement again. Good luck!”

Another user added: “I didn’t know you liked to lose, Kyle. That’s weird.”

The third commenter wrote, sharing a screenshot of Rittenhouse’s old tweet: “Trump and MAGA had your back, but now you don’t have him.”

“You’re ridiculous, man. A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Kamala Harris, who will actually take away your guns,” one wrote.

One person said: “You’re still young and dumb. There’s only Trump, or you’re wasting your vote, kid. I know it’s bullshit, but that’s the truth.”

Others added: “What an idiot! Bye Kyle!”
