Cow dies in accident on Route 7 | News, Sports, Jobs

LISBON — Traffic flow was disrupted on a stretch of State Route 7 in Fairfield Township Wednesday night as law enforcement dealt with a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol report said the road was closed for more than 45 minutes while they cleaned up a collision between an R&L tractor-trailer and a neighborhood cow.

The cow did not survive.

Louis Bendzak, 30, of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, was traveling north at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday when his tractor-trailer struck the cow, which had wandered into the roadway.

After the impact, Bendzak’s vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck a fence and a wooden trailer before overturning in a field.

There were initial concerns about the cargo, which another outlet reported was batteries and possibly leaking. However, that did not materialise and emergency services cleaned up the resulting diesel spill.

As of Thursday afternoon, the accident report prepared by the Lisbon Highway Patrol was still pending completion.
