Officer Fisher makes arrests on US 30

Officer Fisher of the Plymouth Police Department has been working traffic control on US 30 between Pioneer and Oak Drives. He recently arrested three people.

Friday, July 26thHe At 8:45 p.m., Officer Fisher stopped a vehicle east of Oak Drive for driving 78 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone. The driver was identified as Cristian Rangel Lopez, age 25, of Elgin, Illinois. During the traffic stop, it was determined that Rangel Lopez only had a temporary Illinois visitor driver’s license and had never had a driver’s license. He was arrested because he had never been licensed and transported to the Marshall County Jail.

Saturday, July 28thHe Shortly before 1 a.m., Officer Fisher stopped a vehicle at U.S. 30 and Oak Drive for driving 80 mph on a 50 mph vehicle. The driver was identified as Samuel Gbortsu, 43, of South Bend. During the investigation, it was determined that Gbortsu had been drinking. A certified blood draw was performed and the test results showed he had a certified blood level of .11. Gbortsu was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked with driving while intoxicated over .08 and endangering others.

Sunday, July 29thHe At approximately 1:45 a.m., Officer Fisher stopped a vehicle that was speeding on US 30 at Pioneer Drive. The driver was identified as Vera Chalen Dimas, age 50, of Chicago. Dimas was driving 75 mph in a 50 mph zone. During the traffic stop, it was determined that Dimas only had a temporary Chicago visitor’s license and had never held a driver’s license. Vera Dimas was arrested for being a never-held-a-license operator. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for driving without a license.
