Toronto Weather: Heat Alert in Effect for Much of Ontario

Sweltering conditions have returned to the city, which remains under a heat alert on Monday.

Environment Canada says temperatures are expected to rise to 29°C, with a wind chill of around 37°C due to humidity.

Much of the province is currently under a heat alert, with the national weather agency warning of a heat event that could lead to deteriorating air quality.

“The heat and humidity will also act as fuel for storms,” CP24 meteorologist Bill Coulter said Monday morning, adding that there was a risk of thunderstorms midday and into the afternoon.

“Tuesday will be another hot and humid day, but we will have more cloud cover and a risk of strong storm surges.”

Tuesday will see a daytime high of 29°C, with a wind chill of 36°C when humidity is taken into account.

A colder air mass is expected to arrive Tuesday, bringing “cooler” conditions, Coulter said.

“Tuesday may see rounds of strong storms as a cold front moves through. The air coming off the cold front will be much more manageable and offer relief from the oppressive heat and humidity,” he added.

“Bright, calm and beautiful for the end of the work week. At this point, the weekend is looking bright and warm.”
