Maersk’s new Phoenix distribution center serves American Honda’s powersports and products division

Phoenix, Arizona – AP Moller – Maersk (Maersk), a global leader in logistics services, today announced the opening of a new 150,000-square-foot distribution center in Phoenix, Arizona. The facility will support American Honda’s Powersports and Products division, strengthening the company’s ability to serve its regional dealer network in the southwestern United States. The facility will provide warehousing and distribution services for a wide range of recreational, utility and outdoor equipment.

Phoenix offers us excellent proximity to our dealer network, which enhances our ability to serve customers more efficiently. Maersk’s deep understanding of our business and rapid execution in establishing the new location have helped us advance key aspects of our regional business strategy.

John Stevens

Director of Powersports Sales Operations at American Honda

Previously, Honda served the southwestern United States from the Los Angeles area. Phoenix offers a robust labor pool, affordable real estate, and strong rail and highway transportation networks. This makes Phoenix an increasingly attractive alternative to Southern California for global companies looking to optimize their supply chains.

We are privileged to support Honda’s growth in an expanding market. Our distribution centers are a key node in the global chain of services we can provide to Honda, from ocean and land transportation to contract logistics. We look forward to honoring the relationship we have built over the years by reliably executing services and delivering exceptional value, day in and day out, for years to come.

Jeff Kellan

Director of Contract Logistics at Maersk North America

Maersk’s contract logistics team activated operations at the Phoenix site within just 90 days of contract award in December 2023. The rapid activation included siting the facility, finalizing the lease, and receiving initial inventory. The facility began operations in March 2024. Distribution center personnel provide a variety of value-added services including coordinating distribution to Honda’s regional dealer network, returns management, light assembly, and quality control.

The Phoenix distribution center is Maersk’s third facility actively supporting Honda’s needs. In 2011, Maersk established facilities in Shreveport, Louisiana, followed by Kansas City, Missouri, in 2020.

Maersk operates 85 warehousing facilities across North America spanning 22.5 million square feet. The company offers consolidation, deconsolidation, warehousing, distribution or omnichannel fulfillment services.
