It’s ridiculous, nostalgic and perfect for taking a selfie.

Oscar Mayer’s Wienermobile is coming to Massachusetts this week. From July 11-14, the hot dog-shaped vehicle will tour the state, making stops at several grocery stores and a car show.

While you can’t order a hot dog from the vehicle, you can take pictures and sometimes, upon request, go inside for a quick tour.

How many Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles are there?

There are six Wienermobiles in total in the United States, and only 12 “Hotdoggers” get the chance to drive them each year. “Hotdoggers” are the drivers of the Wienermobiles. The only people allowed to drive the vehicles are college seniors, preferably with a degree in public relations, journalism, communications, advertising or marketing, as being a “hotdogger” also means becoming a spokesperson for the company.

When was Oscar Mayer’s first Wienermobile invented?

The Wienermobile was created by Oscar Mayer’s nephew, Carl G. Mayer, in 1936. Since its invention, it has undergone some improvements to modernize the vehicle.

Do the sausage sellers sleep in the Wienermobile? Does it have a bathroom?

While it is large (it is 8.2 metres long!), it is not equipped for people to sleep in, as it has no beds or bathroom. What it does have is a hot dog-shaped dashboard, six mustard-and-ketchup-coloured seats and a television.
