Residents in southwest Houston and Galveston are bracing for Beryl’s arrival on the Texas coast as a flood watch is issued for much of southeast Texas

On Saturday, ABC13 provided weather coverage of the team, specifically in southwest Houston and Galveston.

From ABC13 Lucas Jones Flooded streets were reported from southwest Houston on Saturday afternoon.

Some drivers southwest of Houston are concerned after their cars were flooded following Saturday’s thunderstorm.

“It started getting into my carpets, my car got flooded and now I’m stuck here. I’ve been stuck here for 30 to 45 minutes,” said Guillermo Serrano, whose car was flooded by Saturday’s storm.

Not to mention, Serrano plans to travel further inland with his girlfriend and cats to Dayton in anticipation of Beryl.

Emergency leaders encourage people to have storm emergency kits ready and be prepared for power outages.

Current forecast threats for Galveston include six to eight inches of rain.

Galveston County Judge Mark Henry reminds residents to pay attention to weather updates, secure outdoor items and prepare emergency kits.
