Past President Ryan Byers called the Rotary Club of Jacksonville meeting to order at noon June 28 in Hamilton’s Fireside Room.

The meeting continued with members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing a verse from “America,” led by Byers.

Volunteers were thanked, including greeters, Alberta Robinson and Susan Weikert; 50-50, Jan Ryan and Joan McQuillan; sergeants-at-arms, Joy Buchanan and Maryjane Bradbury; song leader, Ryan Byers; acknowledgements, Craig Albers; food delivery, Maryjane Bradbury; technical support, Craig Albers; and Reflection, Stanley Wahl.

Stanley Wahl then gave some insight.

• The Ferris wheel registration form is available. If you have not received training for the Ferris wheel, please contact Sandy Sanders.

• Tickets for the Cubs and Cardinals are on sale now. Tickets will go toward literacy grants. The game will be played on July 13. Tickets are $60.

• Yago’s farewell party will be on July 10 at Leo’s house.

• The Morgan County Fair Beer Tent is in need of volunteers. There are two shifts. Contact Craig Albers.

• July 20: Rotary Zone Leadership Seminar. Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Contact Ryan Byers.

There will be no meeting on July 5th. The next meeting will be on July 12th. Please keep an eye on Facebook for information on volunteers needed for that meeting.

There were no visiting Rotarians. New inductee Darcella Speed ​​invited Annie Flowers. Maryjane Bradbury invited new inductee Michael Woods. Keith Lape invited new inductee Bill Blue. Cathy Jo Littleton Wahl introduced Darcella Speed, Maryjane Bradbury introduced Michael Woods, and Keith Lape introduced Bill Blue.

• Alberta Taylor was recognized for all her hard work in celebrating Juneteenth.

• Bertie was grateful to all the volunteers.

• Ginny Fanning was recognized in a newspaper article as a board member.

• Kim Brogdon is working on getting her insurance exams and thanks everyone for their love and support.

• Cathy Jo Littleton Wahl is grateful to Ginny Fanning’s family for bringing a welcome basket to Sarah’s new home.

• Kelly Pool appreciates all the love and support from the Rotary family, with a special thanks to Kim Brogdon.

• Bill Blue said his twin sons will travel to the Netherlands to visit their siblings in Iceland and visit the families of previous hosts and attend a Taylor Swift concert.

Past President Ryan Byers introduced the members who will be leaving the Rotary Board for 2023-24. Thanks to Savanna Tighe, Tammy Halloway, Tom Luber, and Joe Kaufman for their service. Ryan introduced the members who will continue on the board in 2024-25 and introduced the new members: President Dan Lepper, Past President Jenna Tucker, President-elect Kelly Pool, Secretary Breanna Pickens (with Lynne Sheaff taking her place), Treasurers Nancy Thorsen and Todd Evans, Service Committee Chair April Folker, Fundraising Committee Chair Madie Stevens, Vocational Education Committee Chair Pete C. Littleton, Club Trustees Bertie Taylor and Kim Brogdon, Youth Committee Chair Cathy Jo Wahl, and Public Relations Committee Chair Joy Buchanan.

Dan Lepper was sworn in as President by Ryan Beyers and gave a welcoming address.

The draw was 50-50 and Lynn Sheaff failed to take the pot. The meeting ended with the four-player heat.
