HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The state Capitol complex was evacuated Saturday night after more than 250 members of the House and Senate received an email from an individual claiming to have placed explosive devices throughout the complex and was armed with a knife.

A spokesperson for the House Democratic Caucus confirmed to abc27 News that everyone inside the state Capitol was notified to evacuate the building “immediately.” Capitol Police are conducting a K9 search, according to an abc27 photojournalist who was at the scene.

The email, which was sent at approximately 5:45 p.m. and titled “My Manifesto,” claimed that “highly lethal lead azide devices” were hidden around the State Capitol and the Pennsylvania Judicial Center “in the name of Palestine.”

The email claimed the devices would be activated “every few hours” until Joe Biden appeared on television and denounced Israel.

This comes less than 24 hours before President Joe Biden’s planned visit to the Harrisburg area.
