Arizona women’s basketball showed interest as the group stage of the FIBA ​​U-20 Women’s EuroBasket 2024 began on Saturday. Incoming freshman point guard Mailien Rolf and her German teammates faced Serbia to start the competition. The Germans claimed an 83-63 victory in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Rolf started for the German team and played almost 29 minutes, during which his team dominated after the first quarter. The team had great runs in the second and fourth quarters, outscoring the Serbian team 29-17 in the second quarter and 26-10 in the fourth.

Rolf led the team with six assists and was second with seven rebounds. She tied for the team lead with two steals. She also scored six points and blocked a shot. She shot 2-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line.

Turnovers were the biggest problem for the German team. The team finished the match with 19 turnovers, seven of which were the work of Rolf.

Rolf and her teammates will continue play in Group D on Sunday, July 7 at 5:30 a.m. MST when they face Hungary.

They will face Israel on Tuesday, July 9 at 3 a.m. MST.
