Man attacks young people fishing at private lake in Tennessee, steals $200 rod: video

You need to control your anger.

A Tennessee man had a breakdown and broke a 15-year-old boy’s $200 fishing rod because he was fishing in a community pond, a wild viral video shows.

Two young friends were fishing when the angry man attacked one of them, snatched his fishing rod and broke it over his knee.

“Don’t touch my fucking stick!” the friend who filmed the alarming encounter can be heard saying in the footage.

The resident yelled at the children, stood face to face with them and made threats such as, “Don’t test me,” according to the viral video. Collin Rugg/X

The video was shared on Wednesday by popular fishing account Fishn_Shi, which is apparently run by the young fishing enthusiast whose rod broke.

In a comment, he said the incident took place in the Admirals Landing neighborhood.

The three-part video has since garnered more than 18 million views and angered many who criticized the big bully.

After breaking what is described in the caption as a $200 St. Croix fishing rod, the man begins yelling at the boy filming, telling him he was trespassing.

The boy tells him that they are waiting for the police and says that the man threatened them.

“Go away,” the man yells in his face, before turning around and facing the other boy.

—Do you want me to throw that phone in the lake, young man? —he asks.

The dispute continues as the grumpy resident threatens, “Don’t test me,” and two other adults back him up from behind some bushes.

“Get out of here… you’re fishing in a private lake,” the man says, growing louder. “Get out of here, right now,” he yells. He is seen wearing a T-shirt with the words “Tennessee Strong.”

“We’re going to sue you and you’re going to pay all kinds of money because you’re being an idiot,” he then tells the boy.

A woman in the background intervenes and suggests that the man is the president of the homeowners association. “Hey, he knows everyone,” she says. “He’s the president, he’s lived here for years.”

“You don’t live here,” she accuses him.

The boys remain calm and say they live in Tennessee, although it is unclear where.

“Drunk Karen breaks my $200 St. Croix fishing rod,” Fishn_Shi wrote in the caption of the video. Many social media users agreed that the man looked drunk.

“This guy has the nerve to roll over them, swaying and slurring his words, sounding drunk… then he has the nerve to, with his whole chest, stand in front of that kid and call him an idiot in that situation,” social media influencer Michael McWhorter, known on TikTok as TizzyEnt, said in a post.

“I’d bet money that this guy… said some variation of, ‘Oh, kids today, always with their faces in their phones, playing video games. We used to have to go out and entertain ourselves,’” the fellow fishing enthusiast continued in disbelief.

“And here are two young men fishing outside, without harming anyone.”

“Male Karen of the month award goes to this guy,” she wrote.

“Way to be a tough guy with little kids,” one commenter said on Rugg’s post.

“Take the joy out of children and ask yourself why they start getting into trouble,” said another.
