Elsie Oehler (91) passed away on June 27 in Jacksonville, Florida, after a brief illness.

Elsie was born on July 10, 1932 in Amana, Iowa to Carl H and Helen Pecher Zimmerman. She graduated from Amana High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Along with her mother and husband, she founded and ran the Ronneburg Restaurant for 49 years. She also started The Clothes Encounter, which allowed her to work in one of her favorite industries, fashion. Elsie was instrumental in the creation of the Amana Heritage Society as well as active in the Amana Artists Guild and a tireless volunteer within the community. She spent years as a Cub Scout and Campfire Girl Leader as well as many school activities. She had many interests including cooking, travel, art, and was an excellent seamstress. Her family was always her priority, mattering above all else. Elsie was a friend to all and dearly loved by all who knew her. She will be missed beyond measure.

She was preceded in death by her husband William, her brother George Zimmerman and her sister Helen Louise Oehler. She is survived by her four children Barry, Don, Lisa (Kennedy) and Maria, as well as six grandchildren: Sarah Lentz, Chris Oehler, Neil Oehler, Sean Kennedy, Katie Kennedy and Allison Reynebeau and six great-grandchildren: Natalie and Matthew Kennedy, Bennet, Carter and James Lentz and her namesake Elsie Reynebeau.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on July 20th from 4:30-6:00 on the west side of Millstream Brau Haus in Amana, IA.

Memorial donations may be made to the Amana Heritage Society or the Amana Artists Guild, as both were near and dear to her heart.
